Who should care about Online Reputation Management?

In the pre internet era, reputation was easier to control. Companies doled out information on their activities to the media, which informed consumers. Today’s online world has decentralised and democratized this reputation creation. Citizen journalism has resulted in consumers participating in shaping your reputation. Hence, corporate cannot push the perception they want consumers to have online; they must recognize that they are one of the participants, along with their consumers in the creation of the company’s reputation.
The reputations of an organisation, its brands and employees are inter-related. The country of origin can affect an organisation’s reputation. Another influence on a company’s reputation is the industry it belongs to. Competition also affects a company’s reputation. If one company’s reputation slides, the others look better in comparison. The reputation of the top management, like the CEO’s reputation also affects the reputation of the organisation. Small individuality, but significant when taken together, are the ways in which each employee can influence over the company’s reputation within his or her circle of friends, customers and family. Take advantage of the nature of the internet as a medium. Listen to customer feedback and what they need online. Design your products according to their requirements. Sit back and watch the positive feedback come in.

Even as an individual, you need to be careful about what your online persona is saying about you. Today, it is much easier for anyone with access to the internet to find out, with one click of mouse, about your past and present. What if a negative comment has been left on your blog? Learn how to manage your personal brand by highlighting your achievements on the right sites so that they are search friendly. You should be aware of how you can minimize the impact of negative news about you by ensuring that positive content about you shows up first on search engines. Why Online Reputation Management?

Why should you as a company think about online reputation management? Isn’t that out of your control? In the real world, yes. Online, your reputation has a much larger audience – anyone who wants to, can bring up a list of results about you.

Who’s writing about you? It’s not just the digital avatars of journalists but your consumers. With the increase in the number of online communication channels, people are talking about every aspect of their life online.

This includes you and your effect on your consumers’ lives. Earlier, these conversations would happen in real time, around the water cooler. Now, they occur simultaneously, on the water cooler that is the net, and are documented in perpetuity. More people are talking, more and more are listening.

How then, can you influence your online reputation?

Reputation is critical. It means how positively, or negatively, a company or similar institution is perceived by its stakeholders. The success of any organisation or entity depends on the people or entities that the company or institution relies on. The image they have of an organisation would hence directly affect the success of the entity. For many for-profit companies, typical stakeholders might include customers, employees, suppliers, or financial analysts. For governments or political entities such as Congress, BJP stakeholders are, above all, the electorate.Digital Marketing Agency-Nikulsan Technologies

The Best Advice I Ever Got

Shahrukh Khan

There are two pieces of advice that Shah Rukh Khan says shaped his life and work. One from his beloved (late) mother. She told him once:  ‘When doing your work, running a business or simply living your life, never think of reducing your expenses. Instead, think of ways to increase your income. The time and energy you spend on trying to plug holes, if they are spent on thinking of constructive ways to increase your income, will bear better results. It’s also a more positive way of working.’
The other piece of wisdom he holds dear is from one of his oldest friends, actor-director Viveck Vaswani. Says King Khan,  ‘He told me : “When you start acting in movies, don’t go by what films you want to be in, because you won’t have much of a choice. First get to be in a position of choice and then do the films your heart desires. Become a star and then fulfil your artistic and storytelling instincts. Basically, deserve before you desire the roles you want.”’

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence of machines and the branch of computer science that aims to create it. AI textbooks define the field as "the study and design of intelligent agents where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of success. John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1956, defines it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines.
The field was founded on the claim that a central property of humans, intelligence—the sapience of Homo sapiens—can be so precisely described that it can be simulated by a machine. This raises philosophical issues about the nature of the mind and the ethics of creating artificial beings, issues which have been addressed by myth, fiction and philosophysince antiquity. Artificial intelligence has been the subject of optimism, but has also suffered setbacks and, today, has become an essential part of the technology industry, providing the heavy lifting for many of the most difficult problems in computer science.
AI research is highly technical and specialized, and deeply divided into subfields that often fail to communicate with each other. Subfields have grown up around particular institutions, the work of individual researchers, the solution of specific problems, longstanding differences of opinion about how AI should be done and the application of widely differing tools. The central problems of AI include such traits as reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, communication, perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects. General intelligence (or "strong AI") is still among the field's long term goals.

All Squirrels Want Nuts

If you want to attract some squirrels, put out some acorns. It's a safe bet.

Nuts are something that squirrels need, the same way people need water and food. But once we start talking about more sophisticated products, things that people want instead of need, the discussion gets complicated. Even extremely poor consumers in the developing world will prioritize their purchases to get what they want, often ignoring the opportunity to take what they need.

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking of your market as a cohesive audience, of thinking of a market as a large group of similar people. But there is no monolith of want.

Everyone doesn't want a slightly better dishwasher or a faster plane ride. Not enough to pay extra for it, anyway. We don't all want chocolate or a big house in the suburbs.

As the number of choices facing consumers increases, and the diversity of education, backgrounds and desires increases as well. It's awfully dangerous to assume that consumers are all the same-it’s even dangerous to assume that they're all rational.

Triple "terrorist" blasts kill at least 20 in Mumbai

(Reuters) - Three bombs rocked crowded districts of Mumbai during rush hour on Wednesday, killing at least 20 people in the biggest militant attack on the country's financial capital since 2008 assaults blamed on Pakistan-based militants.
India has remained jittery about the threat of militant strikes, especially since the November 2008 attacks which killed 166 people and raised tensions with nuclear-armed arch rival Pakistan.
At least 100 people were wounded on Wednesday and preliminary reports showed the death toll had risen to 20 in the "terror attacks" centred mainly on Mumbai's jewellery trading centres, Umesh Sarangi, a senior government official, told Reuters
"This is another attack on the heart of India, heart of Mumbai. We will fully meet challenge, we are much better prepared than 26/11," Prithviraj Chavan, the state's chief minister, told NDTV broadcaster, referring to the 2008 attacks.
Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram also said "terrorists" were to blame.
"The blast occurred at about 6.45 pm (1315 GMT) within minutes of each other. Therefore, we infer that this was a coordinated attack by terrorists," Chidambaram told reporters.
At least one car and a motorbike were used in the coordinated attacks believed to have used improvised explosive devices, officials said.
"This tactic is much more in line with those used by more amateurish groups such as the Indian Mujahideen who have targeted crowded urban areas before," Stratfor, a strategic affair think tank, said in a statement.
Television images showed blaring ambulances carrying away the bloodied people at one of the attack sites. Other images showed bodies lying among glass and metal debris in narrow streets.
At the Dadar area in central Mumbai, one of the explosions left car windows shattered and uprooted electric poles. Police used sniffer dogs to look for clues while the public helped paramedics carry away some of the injured.

The Best Advice I Ever Got

By Dr A.P.J.Abdul kalam
Former President of India

There are many pieces of advice I have received in my life which have been of immense benefit. One of the most moving ones came in October 1999 when I went to the Adhyatma Sadhna Kendra, Mehrauli. This was a year and a half after the Pokhran II nuclear test in May 1988. The euphoria of having conducted the nuclear tests after dodging the watchful eyes of the rest of the world had far from died down.
There I met Acharya Mahapragya for the first time. After praying for the well-being of the nation with his Jain monks, he turned and blessed me. Then he uttered the words which were to change my life and my ambitions forever. He said ,'Kalam, the almighty has a biggermission for you and that is why you are here with me today.     I know our country is nuclear nation now. But your mission is greater than what you and your team have done; it is indeed greater  than what any human being has ever done. Nuclear weapons are proliferating in tens and thousands in the world. I command you and you only with all the divine blessings at my disposal to evolve a system of peace wherein these very nuclear weapons will be ineffective, insignificant and politically inconsequential.'
The power that lay hidden behind this simple, eloquent speech left me dumbfounded. In fact, a hush fell over the hall. The realization that my work would be fruitful only if I tried to prevent to the use of what I had created gave a new meaning to my life. Since then, my mission in life has been  to try  and contribute to peace and happiness around the world-to ensure that the fruit of my toil would not to put to use, ever.

Google+

Verdict
Plus is definitely worth trying. Once you’ve signed up, it’s tough to say goodbye because Google draws you back with its newly-introduced black toolbar that squats across Google sites and posts a notification to alert you about the activity on Plus. For people who primarily share multimedia, this platform makes it easy because of its simplicity in design and the able support of other Google products. Features such as Hang Out are worth a dekko. And with Circles, you do not feel compelled to reciprocate a ‘Follow’ like you would on Twitter. Still, there aren’t any options to create groups and this might prove a hindrance to creating thriving communities like on Facebook and Orkut. Also, there is no way to search posts posted by your friends or anyone in the network, big drawback again. And if you like social games or applications, you’ll be disappointed because Plus does not have any Yet.
